Its been a hairy scary few weeks here at Diamond Beach and for a short time we seemed to be at the epicentre of the NSW bushfire crisis.
This dramatic shot – which went around the world – taken by local photographer Martin Von Stoll of his son on Back Beach, Hallidays Point pretty much sums up what it was like here during the north coast bushfires on the crisis Saturday night.
Hairy, scary stuff indeed.
Happily thanks to the ceaseless efforts of fire fighters, this ‘first’ fire from the south was controlled and stopped before it reached the nearby village of Black Head.
Seeing where it has burnt to is quite amazing – come and see for yourself.
